Social media has been improving more and more each year; we have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tinder, Pinterest, Whatsapp, Snapchat,Youtube, etc. A person can have as many applications he/she wants. I even use all those applications I’ve mentioned.

Well, this is not about how many social media apps I can mention. I am writing this letter to tell you that social media can be dangerous in any way. You put up informations on the internet and never know who can view those personal informations you have. Social media is the haven for stalkers. Imagine they can view your info and the what abouts of your life. Some even use fake accounts by grabbing all the informations from someone and use it for scam.

It opened up my mind when I was using Tinder. I have someone I liked so much on Tinder. He was all cool and romantic kind of guy. We clicked a lot since we share common interests but let’s skip the drama. Anyways, he said he was not using facebook since he deleted it a year ago and I was super curious so I searched his name and yes he does not use facebook. But since girls work like CIA to find out things about guys , I found out he was f***in married (took me some time to find out). And they are still married!

I know I should be thankful for social media because I was able to find out about his marriage. It just made me realize that you can discover details about someone just by using the internet. I tried to search my name on Google and it shows my face and my Twitter account when I was 15 years old which I don’t open anymore. I don’t have any clue what’s my account so I can’t delete it! It will be in the internet as long as I can imagine! My LinkedIn also shows up and my instagram account too.

I’m not saying you should not use Social medias or the internet but I just wanna say be careful in posting things in Social Media; Limit the informations you put especially your name, address, birthday, id numbers and email address,if possible use a pen name that’s close to your name (just like authors) and limit the privacy of your account to your friends, co-workers, families or anyone who just matters.

I already changed my name on Facebook and deleted the informations I’ve put on it like my address, school, work and birthday. I also changed my name on instagram. I hope in any way, this will make me more private and secured from the internet.

I also do hope this makes sense and this helped in making you realize about the danger in using social media.
